Sustainable Travel
LEAVE ONLY FOOTPRINTS
Royal Belize is committed to preserving the beautiful, yet fragile, natural environment that is the main attraction in Belize. We focus on eliminating any potential negative environmental impact associated with our operations and encourage our guests to do the same.
How we stay sustainable
Eliminating all plastic water bottles, providing complimentary aluminum water bottles to each guest
Replacing plastic straws and cups with bamboo straws and glass cups
Packing tour lunches in a cooler with reusable containers instead of styrofoam
Recycling all glass bottles
Cleaning with only non-toxic products
Buying only energy efficient appliances, LED light bulbs, and double panned windows
Collecting rain water and putting it through a desalination process right on the island
Making just one boat run per day maximum and using low emission engines
Using solar and wind power
Buying only locally sourced ingredients
How You Can Help Sustainability Efforts
Use and refill your complimentary water bottle
Use reef safe sunscreen
Reuse your towels to reduce water and chemical waste
Turn off lights and air conditioners when you leave your room
Minimize water use (turn off taps when shaving or brushing teeth)
Dispose of trash responsibly and recycle where possible
When diving and snorkeling, never touch plant/animal life and minimize fin movement (which stirs up sand that can choke the reef)
Never chase an animal (on land or under water)
Join environmental groups and support environmental causes
Donate to the local community (match our $100 BZD per room, per night donation)
