We believe experiences are better than things.
We think you probably agree – that’s why you’ve decided to join us at Royal Belize to create memories with the people you care about.
When you experience the beauty of Belize, you’ll also notice that most people on the mainland get along with less than we’re accustomed to back home. There are plenty of excellent organizations committed to conserving Belize’s landscape and serving its people, but as we thought about a way to give our guests the opportunity to give back, the choice was clear.
Miss Bertie’s Hopkins Community Library is a volunteer-run library that was founded in 2007 by Peace Corps volunteer, Bertie Lee Murphy. A part of the National Library Service, the yellow building welcomes both children and adults. In addition to traditional library services, Miss Bertie’s offers homework assistance and educational games.
We think the experience of education is perhaps the greatest gift one can receive. Royal Belize proudly supports Miss Bertie’s Library and we invite our guests to bring books with them when they visit the island. The library is especially appreciative of books for elementary and middle school aged children. We bring your donations to the library on our regular runs into town.
A good life is made up of good stories – we invite you to share your favorites with the community of Hopkins!
